Android 4.4 Kitkat has got an awesome feature which lets you use the compass right on your phone without the need to install some third party services. You just have to add the compass to your quick settings pull down panel and you will be getting directions easily.

Although, Android 4.4 Kitkat supports compass, if your hardware supports it, but, you can’t enjoy full compass options like full round scale with all four directions instead, just the angel of your current location where you are pointing is showed.

Simply follow the instructions below to add compass option to the quick pull down panel in Android 4.4 Kitkat.

Instructions:

  • First of all, you will need to add the compass option to the quick settings panel. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Interface’ while using Android 4.4.2/Android 4.4.3 whereas, ‘Notifications drawer’ while using Android 4.4.4.
  • Your ‘Interface’/’Notifications drawer’ settings will open. Here press ‘Quick Settings panel’.

  • Your quick settings panel options will open. Here press ‘Tiles and layout‘ under ‘Static tiles’.

  • Your tiles and layout options will open. Here press the ‘Add’ tile to add new tile.

  • Select ‘Compass’ from the list.

  • Now, your will see a compass in the quick settings panel in notification drawer. Press it to enable and you will start getting the compass heading in which direction your phone’s top is pointed.
