This the typical issue with all the laptop holders that how to manage the operations of laptop computers when laptop lid has to close or is closed, abruptly, during the normal operations of operating systems. This action is applied when you have to close lid of laptop while you are working upon the laptop. In other situations, the laptop lid is closed accidently or unintentionally. Usually, different options are offered in the laptops with Windows 10 operating system when the lid of the laptop is closed, abruptly, without any action. But, their selection depends upon the specific users of the Windows 10 operating system. Command Line: Right Click Battery Icon > Choose what closing the lid does > Choose ‘When I Close the Lid.

Tutorial

1: Right click or tap the ‘Battery’ icon, placed in the ‘Notification Bar’ in the bottom right corner of the Windows 10 desktop. It will, instantly, take you to the ‘Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Power Options’ screen.

2: At the ‘Power Options’ screen, click or tap the ‘Choose what closing the lid does’. It will open up the next screen at the ‘Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Power Options > System Settings’.

3: At the ‘System Settings’ screen, see ‘a’; ‘When I close the lid’ is set to ‘Sleep’ by default. This is set to ‘Sleep’ for both the situations, i.e. when laptop is on battery or when the laptop is plugged in for charging.

4: To change the default settings, just click or tap ‘b’ at ‘Sleep’ and it will open down a popup menu with the following options in it:

  • Do nothing
  • Sleep
  • Hibernate
  • Shut down

Now, from the popup menu, you may select the option of your need or requirements by clicking or tapping it. Then click or tap the ‘Save changes’, place at the bottom of the screen to set is by default.That’s all!
