Storing apps and other data on your phone’s internal and external storage has been a hassle ever since the usage of external SD cards in your phones. Android lets you store apps and data on both internal and external storage but, sometimes storing data on your phone’s internal storage is not feasible or you don’t want to store the data on your phone’s internal storage.

Moving files and apps between your phone’s internal and external storage can be very annoying as you have to move files to your external storage manually after they are stored in the internal storage.

But, with Android 4.4.2 and 4.4.3, you don’t have to worry about moving apps to the external storage manually as you now have the option to select the SD card as the primary storage which would be used to store all your apps, data and other things.

If you are one of the people who are looking for a way to use the external SD of your Android device as primary storage then, you are at right place.

Simply follow the instructions below to use the external SD card of your Android 4.4.3 device as primary storage.

Note: This feature is exclusive to Android 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 only and all devices may not support it. Additionally, you must have inserted a SD card in your device to use this feature.

Instructions:

  • First of all, open up ‘Settings’ and navigate to ‘Storage’.
  • Here you will see the option ‘Use external SD as primary’ on top of Storage menu. Check it.

Note: If you don’t see the ‘Use external SD as primary’ then, it is possible that your device’s Android version doesn’t support it.
