When you have locked your Android phone and you receive a call or message, the screen awakes. But, if you think the task is not worth unlocking the screen, you may immediately need to sleep the Android phone to sleep. For the purpose, you may configure more than one button to do the screen off or to sleep the device. Menu button is one such button which may be configured to be applied to sleep the Android device right from the lock screen.
You may configure Long Press Menu button to sleep the Android device but if you feel the need, you may see the instructions.
Command Line: Settings Icon – Home Screen > Lock Screen – PERSONALIZATION > Button Actions – GENERAL > Long Press Menu Button > No Action / Go to Sleep.
Instructions
1: Tap the icon of the Settings app at the bottom right corner of the Home screen of Android 4.4.4 KitKat device.
2: At the ‘Settings’ screen, tap the ‘Lock screen’ in the PERSONALIZATION section.
3: At the ‘Lock Screen’ screen, tap the ‘Buttons Actions’ under GENERAL to view or change the lock screen button actions.
4: At the ‘Buttons Action’ screen, see the status of ‘Long Press Menu button’ is ‘No Action’. If you want to change the status of the ‘Long Press Menu Button’, tap it to open up a popup window menu.
5: At the ‘Long Press Menu Button, popup window menu, the current selection is ‘No Action’. Tap any other function of ‘Long Press Menu Button’ to change it.
6: I selected ‘Go to Sleep’ option at the ‘Long Press Menu Button’ popup window menu.
7: Back at the ‘Button Actions’ screen. See the status of ‘Long Press Menu Button’ is change to ‘’Go to Sleep’.
From now onward, Menu button on Long Press on the lock screen can be used to sleep the Android 4.4.4 KitKat device.
