Call forwarding is a service where incoming calls are forwarded to some other number if your number is not available. Not all phone carriers offer all call forwarding services but only selected services. Android offer 4 different call forwarding services for its user but if these services are denied by your phone carrier, you may not enjoy the specific call forwarding service(s).
Android 5.1 Lollipop provide the 4 following call forwarding services to its users:
- Always forward
- Forward when busy
- Forward when unanswered
- Forward when unreachable
You may set any of the call forwarding service at your phone but its functioning depends upon your phone carrier. You may select any call forwarding service at your phone but if you feel the need, see the instructions. Alternatively, you will need to contact your phone carrier.
1: Tap the icon of the ‘Phone Dialer’ at the Home screen of your Android 5.1 Lollipop device to open up the ‘Phone Dialer’ app screen.2: At the ‘Phone Dialer’ app screen, tap the settings button, placed at the top right corner of the screen. It will open up a popup menu.3: Tap the ‘Settings’ in the popup menu.4: Tap the ‘Calls’ at the ‘Settings’ screen.5: At the ‘Call settings’ screen, tap the ‘Call forwarding’.6: At the ‘Call forwarding settings’ screen, see 4 options are offered to you:
- Always forward
- When busy
- When unanswered
- When unreachable
8: Tap any one option which you want to activate. For example, I chose ‘Always forward’, i.e. all incoming calls to my current number will always be forwarded to the specified number. This option is opted when you are near to change your current number and want to convert the calls to the new number or due to any other reason. Taping ‘Always forward’ will open up a prompt named; ‘Always forward’ with the message: ‘Always use this number’. Here, you may add any number at which you always want to receive the calls. You may write the number with the help of numerical keyboard, placed at the bottom of the screen.9: See further there are following 3 different activation options are available in the prompt:
- TURN OFF
As I was already using a number to always forward the call, I tapped ‘UPDATE’ option. Alternatively, you may tap the ‘TURN OFF’ option as well to disable/off this service. This will, instantly, take you back to ‘Call forwarding settings’ screen. See the status of ‘Always forward’ is changed to ‘Forwarding all calls to ………………Similarly, you may set the other call forwarding options, available at the ‘Call forwarding settings’ screen.
