Hibernate is a feature in the Windows 10, the new flagship of Redmond-based Microsoft, which has been added in Windows 10 to conserve power. Typically, power saving is the most important issue in the laptops and other mobile devices. The Microsoft has provided more than one feature in the Windows 10 to conserve battery power. Two most important features are:

  • Hibernate
  • Sleep

Now, lets’ see; what is hibernate?

What is Hibernate Mode?

Hibernate Mode feature in the Windows 10 works likes the Sleep Mode, i.e. by saving its open documents and running apps in the random-access memory (RAM) and then saving them in the hard disk of your computer device. When, your computer is turned off (hibernated), completely, saving the total power in your battery, i.e. its memory and battery usages comes to zero level. When you again power on (restarts) the system, all the documents and the applications, saved in the RAM and hard disk will be resumed, right from the point where these were saved at the time of hibernate. It takes a little time to resume working but it depends upon the hard disk.

If you want to run your Windows 10 system for a long time, without shutting down and without closing some of your documents and applications, the best method, suggested by Microsoft is to hibernate it.
