Google has recently updated the Google Keyboard for Android devices which includes a new design called Material which is same as the user interface of Android 5.0 Lollipop. But, the new keyboard has also removed the dedicated numeric row of keys on top of alphabets which is making it annoying for some users to switch to symbols to use numbers.

If you are looking for a way to get the numeric row back on top of Google Keyboard then, you are at right place. We will be telling you a simply way to get the numbers back on top of alphabetical keys using Google Keyboard.

Follow the instructions below and you will have the numeric rows on Google keyboard in seconds.

Instructions:

  • Hoping you have installed the latest update for Google Keyboard, open up the keyboard by going to any text app. Once the keyboard is open, long tap the ‘comma’ key (refer the screenshots below) and you will get the ‘settings’ icon in pop up. Select it.

  • A pop menu will open. Here select ‘Google Keyboard Settings’.

  • Your ‘Google Keyboard Settings’ will open. Here press ‘Appearance & layouts’.

  • Here select ‘Custom input styles’.
  • Once in custom input style press the ‘+’ icon on top right corner.

  • A pop will open. Here select ‘English US’ as language and ‘PC’ as layout. Press ‘Add’.

Note: You can select any other language for your keyboard, as well.

  • You would be asked that the custom style must be enabled before using it. Press ‘Enable’.

  • You would be taken to Language settings of Google Keyboard. Check ‘English (US) (PC)’ from list and uncheck all other options.

Note: You might have to disable ‘Use system language’ option before selecting ‘English (US) (PC)’.

  • Now, go back to your Google Keyboard and you will have the numeric key row on top of your keyboard.
